Bruce Hewitt

A top-notch presenter and excellent fishermen Bruce Hewitt owns and operates Going Fishing Guide Service in Burbank, Washington. A lifelong angler, Hewitt grew up fishing the steelhead waters of Puget Sound, including the Skykomish, Snohomish, Stillaguamish and Skagit Rivers and has earned himself a spot amongst the elite guides in Eastern Washington.

 

Hewitt is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the region’s fisheries. Moving to Eastern Washington in the late 1960’s Hewitt began fishing the Snake River prior to the construction of Lower Granite Dam. Spending most of his time on the Columbia and Snake River, Hewitt regularly guides for spring and fall Chinook, steelhead, sturgeon and walleye from the comfort of his 22 ft NW Jet Boat.

 

Hewitt is rapidly approaching a decade of guiding experience in the Pacific Northwest. However, his skills also bring him to Alaska each summer, too. When runs peak in June and July, Hewitt migrates north to the Kenai Peninsula to guide the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers for Alaskan Gamefishers. As mentioned above, the balance of the year is spent on the Columbia and Snake Rivers and surrounding reservoirs.

 

As a local guide with priceless local knowledge, Hewitt is often sought out to provide seminars on salmon and steelhead fishing by local sporting goods outlets. Hewitt is a regular featured guest at Cabelas in Post Falls, Wholesale Sports, Griggs Ace Hardware and The General Store. Hewitt’s goal is to help introduce new anglers to the basics, while providing some refinement of skills to more experienced anglers pursuing the seasonal salmon and steelhead runs. Anglers in attendance learn different styles o fishing, gear rigging, the basics of reading rivers for holding water and how to select and cure baits for maximum effectiveness.

 

Hewitt’s fame stretches beyond the classroom. In fact, he’s often featured in Northwest Sportsman and STS and also can be seen on stage at the Tri-Cities and Great Western Sportfishing Shows.
